The TOD10N is one of those guitars that instantly feels different the second you pick it up. It does not try to be a traditional nylon and it is definitely not here to replace one. This is Tim Henson’s take on a nylon string guitar and that alone makes it a pretty unique piece to have in a lineup.
The design is the first thing that stands out. The thin hollow body keeps it lightweight and extremely comfortable especially if you are coming from electric guitars. The cutaway makes higher frets easy to reach and the whole thing feels modern and familiar rather than classical. You can tell this guitar was built for players who want nylon tones without having to completely change how they play.
Sound wise the TOD10N is very focused. The electronics are dialed in for a clean immediate nylon sound that works perfectly for fingerstyle modern chord shapes and percussive playing. This guitar absolutely shines in the exact lane it was designed for. At the same time it is not a versatile instrument. You are not going to cover a wide range of styles with it and honestly it does not want to. It knows what it is and sticks to that idea.
That is also what makes it fun to own. As part of a collection it is inspiring different and pushes you to play in ways you probably would not on a standard acoustic or electric. If you are a Tim Henson or Polyphia fan or just someone who appreciates modern design and purpose built guitars the TOD10N makes a lot of sense. It is not an everyday do everything guitar but it is a really cool one to have when you want something completely different.
