The Nordvang Custom Gravity v2.5 is a fairly new addition to my board, but it has already earned a permanent spot. If you aren’t familiar with Nordvang, they are a boutique maker out of Denmark doing some of the most insane work in the pedal world right now. They don’t just build clones. Henrik approaches pedal making with a serious eye for detail, using top shelf parts and high end wiring to build gear that is just as reliable as it is musical. It feels less like a mass produced gadget and more like a real piece of equipment that was actually built to last.
The Gravity is essentially a masterclass in versatility. It takes two of the most legendary overdrive circuits in history being the Klon Centaur and the TS10 Tube Screamer and puts them onto a single platform. If you are a fan of John Mayer, you know exactly why this matters. This pedal was heavily inspired by those later live lead tones like the outro to “Gravity” or the intro to “Belief,” where he stacks these two specific circuits to create a massive, thick wall of mids.
What makes this v2.5 update so cool is how much you can customize it without it feeling like a chore. On the Tube Screamer side, they added a toggle switch to give you more bass if your tone feels too thin. Inside the pedal, there are even more ways to tweak the brightness or boost the volume. In this new version, they even gave us more “clipping” options, which is just a fancy way of saying you have more choices for how smooth or aggressive the grit sounds.
Over on the Klon side, it is all about that classic punch and clarity. You can switch between two different types of internal parts to change the flavor of the overdrive, making it easy to match with whatever amp you are using.
The best part about the Gravity is the order switch right in the middle. This lets you decide which pedal hits your amp first. You can run the Klon into the Tube Screamer for a thick, sustaining lead tone, or flip it the other way to see how it changes the response. It is like having a professional studio setup right at your feet.
This pedal really does it all. It nails those familiar, classic tones while giving you the freedom to make them your own. It is a fun, high end piece of gear that offers a ton of flexibility for anyone looking to experiment with their sound. If you are into the idea of having these two legendary circuits on one modern platform, the Gravity v2.5 is a really solid choice for your board.
