MXR Carbon Copy

“If you could have only one pedal on your board, what would it be?” –

Recently, I was talking to someone and asked, “If you could have only one pedal on your board, what would it be?” Without hesitation, they said: DELAY.

Delay pedals are incredibly versatile and can be used across many different musical styles and sounds. Personally, I like using delay to beef up my tone just enough to give it more presence and help fill the room. Others might be chasing a rhythmic delay like David Gilmour or going for a more ambient, Radiohead style sound.

Like I mentioned earlier, when I’m looking to thicken my sound, I step on a delay pedal and my personal choice is the MXR Carbon Copy. It’s an always on pedal for me and really adds that extra flavor I’m looking for. It’s not a crystal clear delay, it’s a bit looser and darker, which is exactly what I love about it.

I’m also drawn to gear that’s simple and easy to dial in. The MXR Carbon Copy is, hands down, one of the simplest delay pedals I’ve used. For me, it’s all about adding just the right amount of depth and letting it sit well with the rest of my pedalboard.

Nothing complicated, just great tone!

What delay pedals are you using?
